Raw natural gases are compressed and maintained at ultra-low temperatures; compressing gases to 1/60 allows for efficient transportation. A variety of valves and fittings are used in the handling of gases. Industrial gases include natural gas (daily use), petroleum gas, and various chemical and specialized gases. Valves and fittings must be selected to match the particular materials and usage. Because industrial gases are flammable and explosive in nature, extra attention must be paid to valve selection, manufacturing, operation, and safety. The High-Pressure Gas Safety Law was promulgated to ensure safety standards are adhered to.
